Jackson & Connor was opened on March 15th 2008, but the creation of it was close to a lifetime in the making. Owners Tara Tetreault and Candice Connors first met while working at Taylor Men, which, ironically, was in the same location Jackson & Connor now inhabits. Taylor Men was Ms. Tetreault’s first job ever, and a few years later, when she became the manager, she hired Ms. Connors which coincidently was her first job as well. The two work great together, in fact they were constantly asked if they were sisters because they melded so well. Fast forward a few years, after the demise of Taylor Men, Ms. Tetreault was working in New York as an Account Executive and Ms. Connors as a buyer and visual merchandiser for the former Yale Genton in West Springfield. The two would soon leave their respective jobs with no intentions of working on such a life changing event, like opening up their own store. But one night over dinner and wine Ms. Tetreault and Ms. Connors decided it was time to put their creativity and expertise into something that was all their own, and from that night on they hit the ground running. Exactly 9 months later they opened the doors of Jackson & Connor with the opened arms of the community, a lot of people came to celebrate and were excited to see the two back together and joining forces to make Northampton a place for men to shop again. “There was always only one person I could see myself opening a store with… and that’s Tara. Where I’m weak she’s strong and where she’s weak I’m strong. I couldn’t ask for a better partner” The cohesiveness between the two is echoed throughout the store, from the clothing to the rustic armories to the leather couch and antler chandelier. The entire store has a sophisticated edge that has left many customers in awe upon entering.
